Baby Reindeer (Netflix)
Baby Reindeer has enjoyed a massively successful few weeks on platform Netflix, garnering critical acclaim and great viewership numbers. It absolutely earns its hype, with writer, creator and lead Richard Gadd taking viewers on a twisty, tense and funny story. It is based on his own real-life experiences with a stalker, balancing Gadd’s personal struggles of trying to succeed in stand-up comedy with his new relationships (voluntary or not). At only 7 episodes, it is definitely worth a binge.
Fallout (Amazon Prime)
Based on the successful game series of the same name, Fallout succeeds in depicting the world it is based around. Crafting an interweaving narrative featuring three strong and contrasting leads, the series is setting itself up to be a real mainstay in the Amazon Prime catalogue. Containing numerous action-packed set-pieces and excellent sets which accurately capture the unique atmosphere of the games, it is worth getting on the Fallout bandwagon before the next season.
Ripley (Netflix)
Ripley is an ambitious retelling of Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 novel The Talented Mr. Ripley, which received a very successful film adaptation in 1999. It is a limited series, featuring 8 episodes, and featuring Andrew Scott as the titular main character. It leans heavily into classic neo-noir elements and is shot in black and white, giving Ripley a very different feel to its film counterpart.
Welcome to Wrexham (Disney +)
Welcome to Wrexham has been a revelation since its first season in 2022. Following co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as they tackle the unique proposition of restoring non-league football club Wrexham A.F.C. back to its former glories, the series is both comedic and genuinely heartfelt in its approach to exploring the many stories of Wrexham and its inhabitants, as well as the ups and downs of the football season. Season three has recently been released and is worth the watch, even for non-sports fans.
